Introduction - Wet pea pulp for ruminant feed and pig feed
Wet pea pulp is mainly composed of internal cell walls of the pea grain and residual starch.
It is mainly intended for ruminant and fattening pig feed.
Wet pea pulp
An energy source for cattle feed and pig feed
Cattle feed
Wet pea pulp is a good energy source for ruminants.
Cattle may each be fed 5 to 10 kg gross weight.
Given its high fermentable carbohydrate content, pea pulp should be introduced gradually and mixed with the rest of the ration to prevent the risk of acidosis.
Sufficient quantities of long fibres must be provided to ensure a correct rumination.
Pig feed
Wet pea pulp can also be incorporated in fattening pig rations: 10 to 15% of the ration on dry matter.
