Vital wheat gluten is the natural protein extracted from wheat, characterized by its viscoelastic properties after hydration. It is particularly regarded for:

These characteristics make it particularly suitable for pet food. Stable upon sterilization, it helps to improve the physical presentation of feed.

It is also an excellent binder for fish feed, helping to ensure stability in water.

Vital wheat gluten for animal feed

Piglet feed

Wheat gluten is particularly recommended for the manufacture of feed for piglets in granules, where it provides a highly digestible protein intake with a positive effect on the quality of pellets.
It is also valued as an excellent source of glutamic acid.

Wheat gluten is generally incorporated at a rate of 3 to 5%.

Pet food

Wheat gluten is a valued source of quality protein thanks to its excellent digestibility, its richness in glutamic acid and its low ash content.

In addition to its nutritional advantages, wheat gluten’s functional properties facilitate the manufacture of numerous types of feed. This is why it is particularly appreciated in the formulation of dry, moist or semi-moist products.

In extruded dry feed, its viscoelastic properties reinforce the structure of the dry pet food.
In moist feed, its high water absorption capacity in the ambient environment and its capacity to form a network make it a highly appreciated ingredient in the manufacture of reconstituted meats. Wheat gluten is also an advantageous substitute for plasma.
Extruded on its own, wheat gluten can also be used for the production of TVP (Texturized Vegetable Protein).

Aquafeed

Wheat gluten is both a source of quality digestible protein and an efficient binder for pressed or extruded feed.

In feed for shrimp, wheat gluten improves the stability of the pellet in water.
In extruded fish feed, incorporated at 5 to 10%, it facilitates extrusion and reduces the formation of dust and fine particles when fish are feeding
