Introduction - GLUCIDEX® Maltodextrins and dehydrated glucose syrups
Maltodextrins and dehydrated glucose syrups of the GLUCIDEX® range are obtained by partial hydrolysis of starch, purification then spray drying.
By definition:
- Maltodextrins have a D.E. (Dextrose Equivalent) lower than 20.
- Dehydrated glucose syrups are hydrolyzed products with a D.E. greater than 20.
Irrespective of whether they are nutritional or technological, their advantages are multiple and allow them to be beneficial in both animal nutrition and veterinary specialties.

GLUCIDEX® maltodextrins and dehydrated glucose syrups provide an energy form intermediate between starch and glucose:
- Their digestibility is greater than that of starch
- Their digestion is less rapid than dextrose or lactose type sugars
GLUCIDEX® 19, 21 and 29 are more commonly used for piglet feed formulations, at incorporation rates of 5 to 10 %.
