Introduction
CLEARAM® modified starch for pet food
Starches from the CLEARAM® range are cooked-up starches, cross-linked and stabilized, with the objective of preserving the traditional functional properties of the starch in spite of the industrial manufacturing constraints.
- The cross-linking provides increased resistance to shearing, heat and acidity.
- The stabilization reduces any tendency to syneresis and avoids gel set-back and texture change after manufacturing.
These starches are mainly used for the manufacture of sauces for wet petfood in cans or pouches.
Applications
CLEARAM® modified starch for use in sauces for wet pet food
PET FOOD

Among the modified starches of the Roquette line, the CH-type CLEARAM® starches are particularly suitable for the preparation of sauces for wet pet-food.
They are adipate cross-linked and acetate stabilized waxy maize starches.
Depending on the gelling level required, CLEARAM® CH progressively develop their viscosity during the sterilization phase, and give a long, smooth and coating texture to the sauce.
Their stabilization level prevents water release and preserves the quality of the finished product during storage.
To optimize their use, CLEARAM® CH starches must be chosen according to the process conditions, the gelatinization temperature and their thickening properties.
